Jamie Foxx should be thankful this aired on TV Stateside because Geoffrey Rush would have challenged for Oscar. He not only nails the self-obsessed Sellers to perfection but his characters, too. The script's trick is presenting Sellers's life as the film he would have made, and since the star only came alive when playing a character, Rush also gets to pop up as his domineering mother, browbeaten father, long-suffering wives and various collaborators (Kubrick, Blake Edwards). It's a tour de force performance.
