The Open Road

Bridges and Timberlake take an emotional roadtrip...

Open Road review

Released in the US two years ago, this cobwebcovered curio has presumably been dusted down in light of Jeff Bridges’ Crazy Heart Oscar and Justin Timberlake’s Social Network status update. Boy, was that a bad idea.

Bridges is a boozy baseball legend, while JT plays his estranged son who pitches up to see pop at the request of his dying ma.

As the cornball title hints, a road trip follows – an Ohio-to-Texas drive that’s as uninspiring as the emotional terrain these two traverse.

Even the pleasingly retro support (notably Harry Dean Stanton) can’t save this from striking out.
