A superb doc about an erratic filmmaker, this backslapping tribute to James Toback (Fingers, The Pick-Up Artist, Tyson) tries to turn him into a legend in his own lunchtime.
Some entertainingly spiky comments from eclectic celebs – “He’s a genius and a retard,” chips in Robert Downey Jr – suggest that the jury’s still out on his brilliance, but Toback’s exuberant character and endless war stories are winners.
Plentiful deleted scenes.
