Korean horror does Hans Christian Andersen in this clammy tale of jealousy, adultery and killer shoes. Optician Seon-jae (Kim Hye-su) finds a pair of red high heels on the subway and nicks them... only to discover they’re cursed. Slickly shot and propped up by a backstory stretching all the way to Japan-occupied Korea in the ’40s, this minor chiller nonetheless prods the right buttons. The creepy set-up is punctuated by infrequent bursts of shocking gore. Needless to say, fans of Powell and Pressburger should keep their distance.
