Gore Verbinski's efficient Ringu retread is trotted out again to capitalise on the sequel's marketing machine. Naomi Watts is all burnished goodness as the investigative reporter attempting to solve the riddle of a videotape that leaves a nastier aftertaste than Police Academy 6: City Under Siege. Bojan Bazelli's superb cinematography manages to paper over the cracks in Ehren Kruger's screenplay, with enough `Oooh!' set-pieces to make for a passably spooky night behind the sofa.
