The River Murders

2

Killer thriller that had to look bad even on paper

Spare a thought for Ray Liotta , Ving Rhames and Christian Slater, paying the bills with a soft-boiled killer thriller that had to look bad even on paper. Liotta is a small-town detective investigating a series of brutally murdered women that all turn out to be his ex-girlfriends.

The main suspect in his own case, he wanders sluggishly from one silly coincidence to another through pages of clumsy exposition. Leaden, glum and torturously long at 90 minutes – it’s a sad sight to see so many career lowlights on the same credits.
