Much lauded but not as significant as it thinks it is, this costume drama follows writer Marguerite Duras (Isabelle Huppert) and her struggle with bureaucracy in ’30s Indochina. It looks great, but there’s a sense that you’ve seen the ups and downs of the plot before, while a lack of extras doesn’t help.
