The Silence Of Lorna

4

Hard-going tale of an Albanian immigrant's struggle

Keep the razorblades out of reach: cheery Belgian filmmakers the Dardenne Brothers return for another miserabilist outing in this gritty moral fable about sham marriages and smack addiction.

It’s harrowing stuff and benefits enormously from Arta Dobroshi’s subtle performance as the Albanian immigrant heroine.

In a half-hour interview the grey-haired siblings chat about guilt and the human condition. They don’t smile much.
