Having come up with a revolutionary `process', young inventor Campbell Scott is treated like royalty by his firm. But then along comes rich fella Steve Martin to befriend him... Prisoner sees a squad of David Mamet regulars play out a tale of deception in which nothing is what it seems.
The performances are faultless, especially from Martin and Scott. But you can't help feeling that a little more heart and not quite so much brain would have elevated a good film close to greatness.
