The Thomas Crown Affair

2

Transposing the Steve McQueen-Faye Dunaway cat-and-mouse thriller to the '90s, John McTiernan's tepid remake of The Thomas Crown Affair survives - only just - on the charm of its leading man. Pierce Brosnan breezes through his role as the thrill-seeking billionaire, while Rene Russo offers able support as the investigator on his tail. But they don't play chess in this one.

DVD Extras:

Behind The Scenes feature, audio commentary with director John McTiernan, music video, theatrical trailer, eight-page booklet.A so-so thriller redeemed by a strong disc. While McTiernan's monotone commentary doesn't impress, the Behind The Scenes feature does (especially when comparing the original to the remake), and the presentation of the film itself is excellent. Best skip the video with Sting having a sing-song, though.
