Given his mixed year – a shoddy (if successful) sequel to this shamelessly enjoyable action malarkey, Guy Ritchie's Film-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, Billy bloody Zane – it's refreshing to look back on Jason Statham kicking butt in the movie that made him a star in the States and a firm favourite (depending how the wind blows) at Total Film. Over the three fluffy-but-fun Making Ofs, it's also fascinating to observe his transformation from pretty poster boy to bonafide badass – his newfound affinity with fisticuffs showcased in this Special Edition's three Extended Fight Sequences, which include the cuts made in pursuit of a theatrical PG-13. And though more depth would have been nice in terms of both package and movie, Statham's commentary is always amusing and often priceless, not least when he gets ridiculously awkward while talking over his sex scene, ultimately declaring of the sexy co-star spread-eagled beneath him, "She was brilliant – never spat her dummy out once." The old romantic.
