A portrait of one of Britain's most famous monarchs in her sexier days

Minxy, feisty Emily Blunt sexes up our most straight-laced monarch in this handsome history lesson, though the real revelation here is Rupert Friend’s subtle Prince Albert, blossoming from supplicant suitor to statesman.

Julian Fellowes’ smart, sly script gives off the rustle of silk and the murmur of plotting, waltzing the young couple elegantly through the two-faced politics of Europe’s courts.
