Tomorrow Never Dies Special Edition

3

Arguably not even the 007th best Bond in the series, Tomorrow Never Dies still delivers a pleasing dollop of superspy thrills. Pitting a bang-on form Pierce Brosnan against megalomaniac media baron Jonathan Pryce, director Roger Spottiswoode's contribution to the franchise has plenty of highlights. There's the pre-Crouching Tiger Michelle Yeoh kicking arse, the remote-controlled BMW, the explosive intro and a pacey motorcycle chase through the streets of Saigon. Shame about the lacklustre ending, though.

DVD Extras:

Commentary by producer Michael G Wilson and second-unit director Vic Armstrong, commentary by Roger Spottiswoode and his mate Dan Petrie Jr, SFX reel, gadgets feature, Secrets Of 007 documentary, music track, storyboards, interview with composer David Arnold, Sheryl Crow video, trailers. With two excellent commentaries, this is one of the better discs in the Bond Special Edition series. The great Secrets Of 007 documentary is part Making Of and part retro-celebration, including interviews with Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Pierce Brosnan and Richard Kiel (Jaws). The other extras are less well thought-out, but there's so much else to play with that it's hardly a problem.
