We all know Tremors is a B-movie classic. Kevin Bacon’s never had so much fun, the script drips with tongue-in-cheek wit, gore and, well, worms. What you may not know is that the film’s three sequels (two sequels and a prequel, actually, with the spirited Tremors 4: The Legend Begins) are almost as much of a creature-feature treat as the first.
Don’t expect them to pack as much of a visual punch, though. The original movie cost $11 million; the straight-to-video sequels considerably less. But there’s a joyful inventiveness about them all, even if the creakiest (Tremors 3: Back To Perfection) almost sinks under its own wry self-awareness. And for £15.99 you can’t argue that this box set gives you anything but value for money – though die-hard worm-lovers would have liked to have seen the 13-episode TV series thrown in, too, as well as more extras. Still... worms!
