As eight-year-old Valentin dreams of space exploration and his absent mother, he concocts a plan to recruit a new mum from his abusive father's parade of passing girlfriends. A strong adult cast is more than matched by the cheeky, unaffected charm of bespectacled child-lead Rodrigo Noya, while director Alejandro Agresti's butterfly touch brings wisdom and wit to scenes that skilfully hop between heartbreaking and hopeful.
DVD Extras:
Cast biogs, distributor's reel and a hilariously Americanised trailer. Best of an average bunch is the wonkily filmed interview with Agresti, who thoughtfully underscores the film's autobiographical elements and political context.
