Cruise needs to brush up on his German accent...

A failed attempt to assassinate the Führer becomes a semi-successful vehicle for Tom Cruise, incongruous but still compulsive as the only one-eyed American in the whole of Nazi Germany.

Surrounding him with a host of British thesps (Branagh, Nighy, Izzard) doesn’t help, though director Bryan Singer deserves praise for his attention to detail.

Singer and the Cruiser reunite for one of two back-slapping chat-tracks.
