Waterloo

4

Napoleon's resounding defeat by the Allied forces at Waterloo was a defining event in European history. But don't expect to learn much about the politics of the period, the nature of the protagonists, nor the finer points of military strategy from this impressively choreographed, though often confusing, multi-national co-production. Yet, while the characters verge on caricature (especially a scene-chewing central performance by Rod Steiger and a cameo by Orson Welles), this remains a thrilling spectacle.
