Wondrous Oblivion

Paul Morrison's story of a Jewish boy in '60s Britain learning cricket from his West Indian neighbours fits the small screen better than the large. It's billed as a comedy drama, but there's not enough breathing space between the two and the handling of the political issues is sometimes as clunky as the hero's batting. But the message of acceptance and Delroy Lindo's sensitive central performance make this a decent four, if not a thumping six.
