Youth In Revolt

A sort of teen-romcom Fight Club...

Michael Cera plays Nick Twisp, a sensitive, faltering virgin who suffers from ennui and is incapable of getting the girl (Portia Doubleday). Cera also plays François, the foul-mouthed, moustachioed alter ego who springs from Nick’s unconscious to feed him spiky lines (“I want to wrap your legs around my head and wear you like the crown that you are”).

Playing like some sort of teen-romcom Fight Club, Youth has two things going for it: Cera, dishing malice and befuddlement as he smashes those one-liners. He also tickles on the commentary with director Miguel Arteta.

A pile of rubbish. Watched it again and my feelings remained the same: Complete waste of time, cliched to the max, really boring love story, characters so flat you realise you don't really care at all for anything in this movie. Cera is quite wooden, feels very out of his depth and makes you wonder if he should have embarked on this pile of tripe! 1/10
