Watching Jeffrey Spellbound Blitz’s fiction debut is like listening to his lead’s asphyxiating stutter: heart-rending, frustrating, but rewarding. Drawing from the wells of adolescent awkwardness, it follows tongue-tied Hal (Reece Thompson), trying to woo fearsome Ginny (Anna Kendrick) by joining her debating team. Blitz allows the sweet, sad hum of real life to fill the cringey silences. “It’s hard to be anything but fluent when you whisper,” someone tells Hal. No arguments here
