Sinister review

Film description

“I got a really good feeling about this,” whispers Ethan Hawke in the creepy trailer for Sinister. He obviously doesn’t know he’s in a bone-chilling horror film.

Putting a spin on found footage films, Sinister sees true-crime novelist Ellison (Hawke) discovering that an entire family was murdered in his new home.

Uncovering old movie reels in the house, he investigates and discovers that whoever – or whatever – was responsible for that family’s demise may still be hanging around.

Recalling the likes of 8MM and Stir Of Echoes, Sinister was written and directed by Scott Derrickson, who also helmed The Exorcism Of Emily Rose and The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Meanwhile, producer Jason Blum worked on Insidious and the Paranormal Activity series, so we should expect something seriously scary.
