“I’m so sick of everything being so fucking awful!” proclaims Claire Fisher (Lauren Ambrose) early in the first episode of Six Feet’s fourth year. Many fans felt the same way throughout the season, as the funeral home owners bounced from drama to depression and back again. Not that the quality of the show dropped – SFU is still a stately, thoughtful, emotion-drenched series – but the unremitting mood of despair wears you out fast.
