High definition – the final frontier… Kirk and Spock are back once again; only this time, thanks to an HD restoration of Gene Roddenberry’s camp Wagon Train to the stars, you can definitively judge if The Shat sported a syrup back in ’66. It’s that sharp. The other big sell is an all-new CGI Enterprise replacing the wobbly model of yore. Such digital tweakage will invoke either cries of ‘Sacrilege!’ from the faithful or a sigh of relief. Lounge leans towards the latter; after all, the original FX would look bad blown up to 1080p. The talking heads and pop-up menus are the icing on this taster for JJ Abrams’ re-boot so warp past the Christie’s auction doc and boldly re-live the wonder of outer space, ’60s style.
