The Avengers 2 reunites Marvel's biggest superheroes for another epic film outing.

Following the extraordinary success of The Avengers in 2012, the sequel will be the culmination of Marvel's Phase Two, which includes Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Geek hero Joss Whedon is returning to both write and direct the next mission, and he says there's no happy ending in sight.

It's a relief that Whedon signed up, as he admitted he had his doubts.

The superhero sequel will have an extremely starry line-up, including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth.

The Avengers 2 opens in the UK on 1 May 2015.
