
Between Rumble Fish and Drugstore Cowboy, Matt Dillon was a pretty kid waiting for a break, in life as in Ben Bolt’s dicey gambling flick. Dillon plays a ’50s Indiana homeboy, with a pout like Brando, whose crap-table skills lead him to Chicago, the Mob and a moral dilemma: go with the nice girl or the stripper? We’ve been here before and a strong deck of actors (Bruce Dern, Diane Lane, Tommy Lee Jones) can’t beat ‘da odds’ stacked against it.
