The Curse Of The Cat People, a loose sequel, concerns a lonely, ostracised girl named Amy (Carter), who conjures up as an imaginary friend the figure of her father's dead wife, Irena (Simon). Notable for its masterful use of light and shadow, this is much less a conventional horror film than a perceptive account of childhood fears and fantasies. Both movies are perfect for those seeking non-Blair Witch-related shocks.
