The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the second instalment in the franchise that got off to an incredible start with one of the biggest box-office hits of 2012.
Also adapted from the book by Suzanne Collins, Catching Fire takes place immediately after the events of The Hunger Games, as Katniss and Peeta adjust to life as District 12’s victors.
Their comfort and happiness might be shortlived though, as President Snow has some rather nefarious plans for the Quarter Quell (the games are particular harsh every 25 years).
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson are among the castmembers returning for another bout. Of the notable additions to the cast, Philip Seymour Hoffman joins as Gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee, and Jena Malone will play Johanna Mason.
One major switcheroo for the sequel is in the director’s chair: Francis Lawrence replaces Gary Ross.
Jennifer Lawrence has spoken to us about what she’s looking forward to in the sequels, while Hoffman has dropped some spoilery comments about the fate of his character.
