The Party: Special Edition2

Like George Best, the Rolling Stones and unprotected sex, The Party was best experienced in 1968. Thirty-six years later, Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards' only non-Inspector Clouseau outing is very laboured indeed: a "you had to be there" anecdote told by a dull drunk.

The star plays Hrundi V Bakshi, a sort of Indian Mr Bean invited by accident to a Hollywood bash. There he wreaks havoc by, um, dropping his shoe and needing the loo. Slapdash slapstick, enlivened only by Henry Mancini's swinging score.
