That is the best reason I have ever read as to why some books should never be turned into films. The Road as a novel is heart rending. It is without a doubt the saddest and most beautiful story I have ever read. At one stage I could not even pick the book up to continue reading the narrative. My God, the man (McCarthy) is a literary genius. Your reviewer is 100% correct this book cannot be filmed - at least not as a 2 hour movie - even as a mini series I do not think the full power and terror of McCarthy's post apocalyptic world can be translated from the written page to the movie screen.

Did this ever get a theatrical release in the UK? I guess the distributors thought it too 'commie' for our sensitive eyes. I agree with Paul the book is fantastic and has led me to buy other (and I might say better) McCarthy works. The man is indeed a literary genius. I would still like to make my mind up about the film though.

OK - in answer to my own question, screenrush.com says Jan 08 2010. Come on TF where's your review and info?
