
Kathryn Bigelow directs Sean Penn, Catherine McCormack, Elizabeth Hurley and Sarah Polley, yet it goes straight to DVD. This has to be terrible, right? Well, no - it's just a tad clunky and uncommercial. Investigating a 130-year-old double-slaying on the Isle of Shoals, McCormack sets sail to the crime scene with hubbyPenn, brother-in-law Josh Lucas and cock-tease Hurley. As they drink wine, eye each other up and compare theories, we get to see what happened thanks to intermittent flashbacks. The dialogue's creaky and the structure's clumsy, but Bigelow hooks your interest and the acting's fine. Even Hurley's.
