Thor review

Film description

In a nutshell:

Beardy Norse God with large hammer dishes out some mythical pain.

The God of Thunder

Frigga: 'The line of succession falls to you. Asgard is yours.'

Thor: 'The answers you seek shall be yours, once I claim what is mine.'

Odin: 'Whoever wields this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.'

In Asgard, a world filled with awe and blue screens, The Mighty Thor (Hemsworth) - a brutal warrior with exquisite facial hair - comes into conflict with the Gods over his rash actions.

His one-eyed father Odin (Hopkins), exiles him to Earth to punish him for disobedience, whilst literally not seeing the mischief caused by his other son, Loki (Hiddleston).

As the hero suffers from culture shock, he meets Jane Foster (Portman) and her merry band of scientists, who take him in.

When Loki sends an army to invade Earth, it is clear to Thor that he is the only one who can stop him, and save his friends.

Thor takes up his armour and his hammer, Mjolnir, to stand against the Gods and to save Earth with some long-awaited M.C Hammer-time.
