White House Down

White House Down review

Film description

White House Down sees Jamie Foxx’s president and Channing Tatum’s police officer out to stop a White House takeover and prevent nuclear Armageddon.

Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) directs this actioner that sits with the likes of Air Force One, Under Siege and Die Hard.

Maggie Gyllenhall, James Woods and Richard Jenkins also star as various Washington stiffs.

The script by James Vanderbilt was sold to Sony Pictures for $3 million, making White House Down one of the biggest spec script coup since Shane Black wrote Lethal Weapon.

Filming took place in Montreal’s La Cité Du Cinéma.

White House Down opens in the US on 28 June 2013, before hitting the UK on 6 September 2013.

Obvious comparisons will be drawn with 2013’s other White House takeover thriller Olympus Has Fallen. Which do you prefer?
